How Christians can shine the light of Christ in everyday life.

The Lies We Tell Ourselves

We are continually having an internal dialoged with ourselves, interpreting our surroundings, circumstances, others and ourselves. This dialogue represents our thought and beliefs about ourselves, the world around us and even God.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. Martin Luther King, Jr.

How often to say to yourself?

I’m not enough…
I’ve don’t too many wrong things…
God can’t use me….
It’s impossible…
I’m too old…
Nobody likes me…
I’m not smart enough…
rich enough…
pretty enough…
strong enough…
These are all messages that limit us and God.

We are continually having an internal dialoged with ourselves, interpreting our surroundings, circumstances, others and ourselves. This dialogue represents our thought and beliefs about ourselves, the world around us and even God. Proverbs tells us that as a man thinks so he is. During the two days we are together we will examine this principle, examine the untruths we tell ourselves, the impact they have on our lives and how we can manage our thought life to be in line with God’s word.

This will not simply be an exercise in positive thinking. We will be taking an honest look at how God sees us, how we can trust him and how he wants to work in our lives.
