Something to think about...
Talking is a Good Thing
There is value in good relationships;
in having someone to talk to. Why is this talking thing so
important? Talk therapy has been used for years to facilitate
finding ways through our woundedness, disappointment and an overall
inability to manage and cope with life. There are some reasons
talking to someone, whether it be to a therapist or a friend, is
helpful:
1.We feel connected and valued when we share our thoughts, our
fears, our hurts and our joys with others and they listen.
2.We can learn about ourselves if we listen to ourselves. Proverbs
tells us that from the heart the mouth speaks. Have you ever been
trying to figure out something and while talking to a friend about
it, had a revelation revealing what was really going on? I can
remember struggling with a job at one point in my career. Actually,
I hated going to work. I was talking to a friend about it and what
came out my mouth was, “I don’t like this kind of work.” You see, I
like work that connects me with people. It energizes me. The job I
was doing wasn’t giving me that opportunity and I was becoming
depressed. When I was able to listen to what I was saying, I knew
what I needed to do. I needed to put myself in a place where I would
be connecting with people and I did. That one moment of
understanding changed everything for me.
3.We also gain understanding through others listening to us and
sharing what they hear us saying. Sometimes we keep saying the same
thing over and over again without ever listening to ourselves. A
good friend, pastor or counselor can help with this. Let me
encourage you that if you are going to open up about sensitive
issues, only share with those who you know are trustworthy with
information and your heart. The Bible tells us to speak the truth in
love. You want to share with those who are able to do that.
If you
are feelings stuck and having difficulty moving past a hard
situation, find someone you can talk to. It is a gift to be heard
when we are hurting and you can learn a lot if you will listen to
yourself in the process.

Something to
Laugh About
There
were two brothers, 8 and 10 years old, who were exceedingly
mischievous. Whatever went wrong in the neighborhood, it turned out
they had had a hand in it. Their parents were at their wits' end
trying to control them. Hearing about a priest nearby who worked
with delinquent boys, the mother suggested to the father that they
ask the pastor to talk with the boys. The father agreed.
The mother went to the priest and made her request.
He agreed, but said he wanted to see the younger boy first and
alone. So the mother sent him to the pastor. The priest sat the boy
down across from him at a huge impressive desk. For about five
minutes they just sat and stared at each other. Finally, the pastor
pointed his forefinger at the boy and asked, "Where is God?" The boy
looked under the desk, in the corners of the room, all around, but
said nothing. Again, louder, the priest pointed at the boy and
asked, "Where is God?" Again the boy looked all around but said
nothing. A third time, in a louder, firmer voice, the priest leaned
far across the desk and put his forefinger almost to the boy's nose,
and asked, "Where is God?" The boy panicked and ran all the way
home. Finding his older brother, he dragged him upstairs to their
room and into the closet, where they usually plotted their mischief.
He finally said, "We are in BIG trouble." The older boy asked, "What
do you mean, 'BIG trouble'?" His brother replied, "God is missing
and they think we did it!"
Sunday Mornin’ Country...
For more
than three decades, the annual Sunday Mornin’ Country® Celebration
has brought together top-name country artists and their gospel
friends to share their hearts and gospel songs. This year’s show at
TPAC’s James K. Polk Theatre, Sunday, June 13, at 2:30 p.m. will be
not only be inspirational, but unforgettable as a star-studded line
up of entertainers gather for a special musical tribute to the
legendary Roy Clark. Tickets for this special country/gospel music
celebration are $20 and available at TPAC.org.
The concert will be a family reunion, of sorts, as it will reunite
many of the original “Hee Haw” cast members when they come together
to honor Clark, who hosted “Hee Haw” from 1969-1992. Also joining
the reunion and tribute will be Sam Louvello, executive producer of
the popular series, along with LuLu Roman, Roni Stoneman and Country
Music Hall of Famer, Charlie McCoy.
In addition, this year’s stellar line up will include Grammy Award
winning artists Gary Morris and Jason Crabb; the legendary Lynn
Anderson, Louise Mandrell, and George Hamilton IV; Nashville Star
Winner, Buddy Jewell; T Graham Brown, Guy Penrod, The Fox Brothers,
Melanie Walker, Cowboy Joe & The Babcock’s, Casey Rivers, The
Nashville Edition, Beyond the Ashes, The “Country Chorale” ® and
many more.
Sunday Mornin’ Country’s roster of artists who have performed over
the past three decades reads like a who’s who in the music business.
Past performers include such legends as Tammy Wynette, Grandpa Jones
and Roy Acuff, and such contemporary stars as Chris Young, Ricky
Skaggs, Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael English. This year’s marks
the 31st Anniversary Celebration of Sunday Mornin’© Country.
“Since the early days of Fan Fair in 1980, the Music City Christian
Fellowship has presented this concert each year with a goal to give
back to the fans through our gifts of music, and leave them with an
uplifting memory of Nashville that will last a lifetime,” stated
event producer, Joe Babcock. “We’re so excited and proud to be the
